Premier Song Production is a Cheshire-based recording studio run by award-winning producer Jonathan Wood, and every demo we record uses live players: real guitars, real bass, real drums, real keys and a real vocalist chosen to suit your song.

The producer behind every recording
Jonathan Wood trained under Gil Norton, the producer behind landmark albums by the Foo Fighters, Pixies, Del Amitri, Feeder and Maximo Park , at Amazon Studios in Liverpool (The Smiths, Echo & The Bunnymen, Dead Or Alive all recorded there). After Liverpool, Jonathan studied in London and secured publishing and recording deals with MCA Music and Chrysalis Records.
He has since produced multiple award-winning albums, including two that won at the JPF Music Awards in Los Angeles and Nashville. His work has appeared on BBC Music Introducing and been broadcast on Life TV, E4, CTR Radio and BBC TV. Since 2004, the studio has been turning songwriters' demos into polished, release-ready recordings.

Every instrument is played by a real musician, recorded at the studio and mixed down to a 24-bit master. Includes producing, arranging, recording, mixing and mastering.
The Premier Basic Demo (£235) uses vocals, acoustic guitar and piano and is the same production approach, scaled for a simpler arrangement.

All recordings are work-for-hire. You keep 100% of the recording rights and can release, pitch, monetise or license the finished track however you choose. Productions have been released on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music by clients worldwide.

How do I hire session musicians online?
Submit your song through the order form, including a scratch demo so the studio can hear what you have in mind. Jonathan arranges all the session work, records the musicians, mixes and masters the track, and delivers the finished recording to you - usually within 3 to 4 weeks. You never need to visit the studio in person.
What does it cost to hire a music producer?
The Premier Full Band package is £389 and covers vocals, guitars, bass, drums and keyboards with full producing, arranging, mixing and mastering. The Premier Basic Demo is £235 for vocals, acoustic guitar and piano. Both include 24-bit mastering and all recording rights.
Can I choose the vocalist?
Yes. Every package lets you choose between a male or female vocalist. Note your preference on the order form.
Is this only for UK-based songwriters?
No. The studio works with songwriters worldwide. All communication and file delivery happens by email, and finished recordings are delivered via WeTransfer. Clients from the US, Australia and across Europe have used the studio.
